The Mosaic Rooms

Last of The Dictionary Men multimedia exhibition at the Mosaic Rooms

Introduction

The financial year for 2012-13 was another highly successful period for The Mosaic Rooms. During this reporting period our core visitor numbers[1] increased by 25% on the previous year, totalling 3,880, and reaching 6,518 when also taking into account attendees of externally hosted Mosaic Rooms events, and non-exhibition period visitors. Substantial progress was further made in engaging audiences online, with over 62,500 visitors to our website, and increasing numbers of social media followers.

We continued to build on our reputation as London’s leading independent forum for high quality and innovative Arab culture, showcasing the work of leading artists and academics with a busy and varied programme of events, exhibitions, and collaborations. This includes working with institutions such as The British Council, the V&A Museum and the British Museum. We also raised our profile via involvement in major events such as the London Cultural Olympiad 2012, and the London Festival of Architecture 2012, a strategy that will continue into summer 2013 with the Shubbak festival, for which the Qattan Foundation is principal sponsor.

In addition to this, we developed our activities to meet future audience targets by launching new education and outreach projects, and innovative new events such as our popular Supper Clubs.

[1] The term ‘core visitors’ refers to visitors who attended events at The Mosaic Rooms during exhibition periods only.
