Introduction
This year (2013/14) will witness the finalisation of the design of the new “Cultural Centre and Palestine Office” building project of the Foundation in Ramallah, as well as the beginning of the building process. The building will contain cultural facilities and spaces equipped with state of the art systems and tools, and is intended as a beacon for knowledge and education, an oasis for cultural interaction, and an incubator for creativity. With all the hopes, ambitions and challenges which that entails, impeccable planning is prudent.
To achieve our objectives, we will continue the process of internal consultations and focus group discussions with our partners and stakeholders including teachers, artists, and cultural practitioners to ensure the most effective operation, quality services and responsiveness to local needs. This consultative process is especially important in determining the operational needs of the public facilities, namely, the library, gallery, multi-functional and training halls, arts, dance, theatre and music workshops. In addition, it is essential to determine the human resource requirements for the effective operation of the new building. This will entail an in-depth review and development of the organisational structure, and developing an employment and staff training plan.
Our ambitions are immense, and so are the challenges. We are certain however that with collective effort and hard work we will achieve our objectives.
