The Cultural Centre and Palestine Office
Donaire Arquitectos of Seville, Spain, was selected as the winner of the architectural competition organised by the Foundation in October 2012 to design the Foundation’s new Cultural Centre and Palestine Office. The decision was reached at the conclusion of a public exhibition at Birzeit University which included designs submitted by four participating international firms. Submissions were evaluated by a five-member jury comprising international architectural design and research experts as well as members of the Foundation and its Board of Trustees.
The new building will be located on a site of almost 6,000m² in Al-Tireh neighborhood of Ramallah, and will accommodate the Foundation’s growing administrative and operational needs.
The Foundation appointed Projacs International (PI) to manage the building of the new premises. The company will bring to life the architectural plans of the architects, in partnership with the Sakakini Engineering Consulting Office, Shahd Consultants for electrical works, and Elite Consultants for mechanical works. The construction process is expected to begin in mid-2014.
